Two points make up the top of Chimney Rock; a northeast and a central (or main) spire. The highest peak of Chimney Rock has an elevation of approximately 7598 ft〔USGS:GNIS, "Feature Detail Report for: Chimney Rock", 10 September 1979, "(Source 1 )", 10 July 2011.〕 and is located at the main spire. The first documented ascent was in August 1930. Due to the climate and elevation, Chimney Rock is more easily attempted during the early to mid summer.
